Le 5 juin 1967, l’armée israélienne détruit au sol en quelques heures la quasi totalité de l’aviation égyptienne. Elle entre en guerre simultanément avec l’Egypte, la Jordanie et la Syrie. Placée sous le commandement du général Yitzhak Rabin, elle remporte en six jours la victoire sur tous les fronts.

Qui protège Israël ?

Depuis 2011, le Dôme de fer, ce système de défense anti-aérien ultra sophistiqué protège la population israélienne des tirs de roquettes et d’obus de mortiers en provenance de Gaza.

« Avec son nom tout droit sorti d’une franchise de science-fiction, il est considéré comme l’un des fleurons de l’armement israélien. L’offensive du Hamas a toutefois démontré qu’aucun bouclier anti-aérien n’est infaillible face à une attaque de grande ampleur.

Le «Dôme de fer» est la première lame du vaste et complexe système anti-aérien développé par l’armée israélienne. Cette technologie, le kipat barzel en hébreu, a été développée au début des années 2000 par le groupe d’armement public Rafael Defense Systems établi à Haïfa dans le nord d’Israël, et financé en partie par les Etats-Unis via la société Raytheon. L’installation de la première batterie remonte à mars 2011 dans la région de Beer-Sheba, à une quarantaine de kilomètres de la bande de Gaza. Une dizaine ont déjà été installées depuis près des villes d’Ashkelon, d’Ashdod, de Nétivot, au sud de Tel-Aviv, et près des frontières libanaise et syrienne. »   JOURNAL « LIBÉRATION »
