Je dois choisir entre l’épicerie et le loyer,

Tout le monde crie au scandale ces derniers mois.

Malgré tout, je me considère chanceuse chez moi.

Si deux tomates à six dollars, c’est vraiment révoltant,

Il faut penser à l’électricité, c’est important.

On ne sait plus comment s’en sortir pour notre budget,

Une approche délicate en parlant de ce sujet.

Moi qui appréciais prendre un café à tous les matins

Et qui aimais recevoir des amis pour un festin,

Je remets en question ces habitudes du jeudi.

Trop de sacrifices exigés — une vraie tragédie.

IN THE BUDGETARY STORM

I have to choose between groceries and rent,

There’s absolutely no point in crying about it.

Everyone’s been up in arms these past few months.

Still, I consider myself lucky to have a place to call home.

If two tomatoes for six dollars is truly outrageous,

We have to think about the electricity bill—it’s important.

We no longer know how to make ends meet on our budget,

It’s a delicate subject to broach.

I used to enjoy having coffee every morning

And loved hosting friends for a feast,

But now I’m rethinking these Wednesday habits.

Too many sacrifices demanded—a real tragedy.
